He and his brothers, Tom and Matt Houston, have been installing spray foam insulation since 2011. Together they will ensure that your project gets the best product for your needs and that it is installed properly. If you take a closer look, you will see why spray polyurethane foam is quickly becoming the most popular way to insulate!

What is Spray Foam?

Spray Foam is a spray-applied plastic foam that is sprayed directly onto walls, roofs, or whatever type of surface you want insulated. It is made of two different chemicals called isocyanate and poly resin. When heated and mixed together, these two chemicals react rapidly, forming spray polyurethane foam. This mixture can expand more than sixty times its size when sprayed directly onto a surface! The expanding foam helps to create a solid and airtight barrier, sealing cracks and gaps to keep your home or business insulated against the outside elements. Due to the complexity of the installation process, it is important that you hire a highly-trained professional to apply your spray foam insulation! Call Houston Bros Spray Foam today for spray foam installers you can trust!

What are the Different Types of Spray Foam?

There are different types of spray foam densities and structures. An open cell spray foam has a lower density whereas a closed cell spray foam has a much higher density. We can help you choose the best type of foam for your project.

Open Cell Spray Polyurethane Foam has a lower density and is sponge-like in appearance. Due to its expansion ability during the application process, open cell foam fills cracks and crevices while adhering to most surfaces, smooth or irregular. Because the yield is greater, open cell foam is usually a lower cost option that can still provide great insulating performance! This type of insulation is usually recommended for interior walls and attics.

Closed Cell Spray Polyurethane Foam has a higher density and each cell in the foam is completely closed. This type of insulation is more costly than open cell foam, but it provides a code-approved air barrier, vapor barrier and moisture barrier as well. The higher density in closed cell spray foam makes it very hard to the touch. Closed cell spray foam can add up to 400% racking strength to your walls! Because of its high R-value per inch, closed cell foam can be sprayed thinner and still achieve tremendous insulating values. Closed cell is great to use in practically any location.

Whichever product you choose, rest assured that Houston Bros Spray Foam will be able to answer all of your questions and install your insulation promptly and professionally!
